PRC's Interim Provisions for the Regulation of Resident
Representative Offices of Foreign Enterprises 
(issued by the State Council on October 30, 1980)

Article 12: The Government of the People's Republic of China shall, in accordance with the laws, protect the lawful rights and interests of the resident representative offices as well as their personnel and family members,and shall facilitate their business activities.

Article 13: A resident representative office shall not erect any radio station(s) in China. Commercial telecommunication lines and communication equipment required for business purpose shall be rented from the local telecommunication bureaus or governing authorities.

Article 14: The personnel of the resident representative offices and their family members shall abide by the PRC's laws and regulations.

Article 15: PRC's authorities may conduct investigations if a resident representative office or its personnel is involved in any unlawful activities.

Article 16: A resident representative office shall notify, in writing, the agency or the authority issuing the approval certificate, 30 days prior to the termination of its business activities. Upon settlement of all taxes,liabilities and other matters, the resident representative office shall revoke its registration with appropriate authorities. The resident office is liable for any unsettled matters.

Article 17: A resident representative off Ice that has been approved to establish shall, within 30 days of the date of promulgation of these Provisions, present the approval certificate to the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and complete the registration procedures.

Article 18: Matters not covered in these Provisions shall be governed in accordance with relevant PRC's laws and regulations.

Article 19: These Provisions shall apply to the appointment of resident representatives in China by foreign enterprises.

Article 20: These Provisions shall go into effect immediatey.
